Καλημέρα (Kalimera)!

Today is the last full day of scientific sessions in Athens, and we’re starting to say good-bye to friends and colleagues.

So much has happened this week! While research continues on the space-time continuum, for those of you who haven’t yet been able to be in 2 places at once, here’s a quick recap of things you may have missed.

The Evening for All gave us a taste of Greece—gastronomically and culturally—at the historic Zeppeion Megaron in the National Gardens of Athens, with a lively show of folk dancing & extensive buffet. Hats off to all the dancers of the Lykeio Ellinidon troupe for keeping their smile while twirling in the heat in their heavy outfits. Apparently it takes them 2 hours to put on the many items of their traditional costumes.

Don’t forget to check out the Elsevier Reviewers’ Workshop on the Assembly virtual platform. It will be available over the next year for all participants at #COSPAR2022 and could make a real difference to your career if you’re just starting out. In fact, all the sessions & Interdisciplinary Lectures have been recorded, so that you can go back & tune in to any sessions you were unable to attend.

Have you read the latest article on the Industry Corner page? —Catching a New Wave:  common principles for a new era of NASA science and commercial partnerships Key members of the COSPAR Committee on Industry Relations met this week at the Assembly to discuss how to improve industry engagement.

We’re already seeing the benefit to COSPAR with CIR-inspired events and sessions, such as the JWST panel session, the Changing Access to Space discussion and JPL & LMC’s involvement in COSPAR’s IDEA initiative, not to mention the recently established Panel on Innovative Solutions. And we’re looking forward to closer collaboration in the future.

Yesterday’s Interdisciplinary Lecture by Sanjeev Gupta on the surface of Mars & its habitability provoked some interesting questions. Here’s peek at one of the slides that were shown.

Stay tuned for the latest news from the second COSPAR Council Meeting tomorrow, wrapping up essential matters and setting out plans for the future.
