The AI4EO Project Team would like to introduce the AI4EO initiative and announce the launch of its first official Challenge! AI4EO is an initiative of the European Space Agency’s Φ-lab that aims to bring the worlds of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Earth Observation (EO) closer together, stimulating and fostering new interaction and collaboration along the way. Our first challenge, the#AirQuality challenge, stems from a need expressed by ECMWF and focuses on downscaling air quality data (PM2.5 and NO2) to a resolution that can be used on a local level. Our main sponsors are AIRBUS, the WEkEO DIAS, NVIDIA and many others, with prize poll totalling more than 170,000€. This role involves conducting fundamental and applied space science research to solve hard problems related to effects of the space environment on space system design and operation.
