On 25 August 2022, the Chinese Society of Space Research (CSSR), the National Space Science Center (NSSC) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Committee on Space Research (COSPAR), jointly organized the “Strategic Forum on Space Science – Post-pandemic Cooperation in Space Science”, and invited scientists and management specialists from major spacefaring countries and international organizations. Held in Taiyuan for Chinese participants and also in a hybrid format, the discussion addressed various subjects, such as the challenges of conducting international cooperation in the current international context, the role of space agencies and international organizations, and the opportunities and prospects for international cooperation in today’s new circumstances. Participants included Wang Chi (NSSC Director), Wu Ji (former COSPAR Vice-President), Pascale Ehrenfreund (COSPAR President), Günther Hasinger (ESA Director of Science), Roger Bonnet (former ESA Director of Science and former COSPAR President), Alvaro Giménez (former ESA Director of Science), and Jean-Claude Worms (COSPAR Executive Director). The participants agreed to the set of recommendations featured in the “Taiyuan Recommendations” set out in the Strategic Forum link below.
Strategic Forum on Space Science-Recommendations
