NASA, ESA, JAXA, ASI, KASA meet during COSPAR 2024 to reinforce cooperation for future missions to Apophis

COSPAR is particularly proud to have initiated a historic gathering of representatives from NASA, ESA, JAXA, ASI and KASA during the 45th COSPAR Scientific Assembly in Busan, Korea to explore coordinating their planning and approach for missions to the asteroid (99942) Apophis. Apophis will make its closest approach to Earth on 13 April 2029 and COSPAR stands ready to support, as required, this once-per-7500-year opportunity to investigate the gravitational influence of the Earth on an asteroid.
